Privacy Policy

Effective September 5, 2026

Keeping Family Ties ("KFT," "we," "us," or "our") provides a private family communication and organization service. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect information when you use the KFT mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

Information we collect

Account and profile information. We may collect your name, email address, authentication identifiers, profile photo, birth date, telephone number, mailing address, family relationships, family memberships, and preferences. A family organizer or another authorized family member may enter some profile information before you create an account.

Content you choose to provide. KFT processes information you create, upload, or share, including messages, photos, videos, documents, recipes, prayer requests, family history, notes, gatherings, invitations, RSVPs, emergency-radio information, and attachments. This content may include metadata such as dates, uploader information, and location descriptions.

Photos and face-reference information. If you use photo organization features, KFT may process photos and derived face-reference data to help identify and organize family photos. This information is used to provide the feature to authorized users and is not used for advertising.

Contacts. If you grant permission, KFT may access contacts you select to help create or update family profiles and invitations. You can deny or revoke Contacts access in your device settings.

Location and emergency information. If you provide or permit location information, KFT may use it for photo organization, addresses, gatherings, and nearby amateur-radio or emergency resources. You can control device location access in Settings. KFT may also process amateur-radio call signs and publicly available FCC or emergency-directory records when you use those features.

Device and operational information. We may process device identifiers, push-notification tokens, app configuration, authentication/session information, feature activity, error details, and basic network and server logs needed to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the Service. KFT's Apple privacy manifest states that KFT does not track users.

Website forms. If you use a beta, support, or contact form, we may collect your name, email address, optional phone number, family name, areas of interest, and message.

How we use information

We use information to provide and personalize KFT; authenticate accounts; connect authorized family members; store and deliver family content; enable invitations, notifications, search, backup, export, and account deletion; provide support; maintain security and prevent misuse; diagnose failures; improve reliability; and comply with legal obligations.

Marketing communications. If you separately opt in, we may use your name, account email address, telephone number, and mailing address to contact you about KFT options and offers by email, telephone, or postal mail. Marketing consent is optional and is not a condition of using KFT or making a purchase. You may withdraw consent through the in-app preference control or our contact form.

Some optional features may use automated or AI-assisted processing, such as importing recipes or organizing photos. When you choose such a feature, the content needed to complete the request may be sent to KFT-operated services or the service provider identified in the feature. We do not use private family content for targeted advertising.

How information is shared

With your family. Information is shared with family members or other people according to the family, item, and feature permissions in KFT. Family membership does not necessarily grant access to every item. People you authorize may save, export, or further share information they can access.

Service providers. We use providers that process information on our behalf to operate the Service. These may include Supabase for authentication, database, storage, and backend services; Apple for app distribution, push notifications, and purchases; and Google when you choose Google sign-in or related Google functionality. Providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies as applicable.

Legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law or legal process; protect the rights, safety, and security of users, KFT, or others; investigate fraud or abuse; or address an emergency.

Business transfers. If KFT is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Your choices and controls

You can manage information and sharing through KFT's profile, family, and item-level controls. You can manage permissions such as Contacts, Photos, Location, Camera, and Notifications in iOS Settings. You may request access, correction, export, or deletion of your information through the in-app controls or our User Privacy Choices page. Account deletion is available in the app. We may need to verify your identity and may retain information when legally required or reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or enforcing agreements.

Retention

We retain information while your account or family service is active and as needed to provide the Service. Retention depends on the type of information, family controls, backup cycles, legal requirements, and security needs. When information is deleted, residual copies may remain temporarily in backups or logs until they are overwritten or expire.

Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including authenticated access, permission controls, encrypted network transport, and access-controlled storage. No online service can guarantee absolute security. KFT does not claim end-to-end encryption unless a specific feature expressly states otherwise.

Children's privacy

KFT is designed for family use, but children under 13 may use the Service only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian and as permitted by applicable law. A parent or guardian who believes a child provided information without appropriate consent should contact us so we can review and delete it where required.

United States service and international users

KFT is operated from the United States. If you use the Service from another country, your information may be processed in the United States or other locations where our service providers operate, subject to applicable safeguards and law.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as KFT and applicable requirements evolve. We will post the revised policy here and update the effective date. If a change is material, we will provide additional notice when appropriate.
