Privacy Policy

Keeping Family Ties (“KFT,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), located at the address below, provides a private family communication and organization service. This policy covers the KFT mobile application, website, and related services (the “Service”). It explains what we process, why, with whom, for how long, and the choices available to you.

Information and sources

We collect identifiers and account data; contact and profile details; family relationships and memberships; birth dates and important dates; messages; photographs, videos, documents, notes, recipes, prayer requests, gift ideas, gatherings, invitations, emergency information, and metadata; contacts or files a user chooses to import; device, browser, IP, session, security, notification, and diagnostic data; and information submitted through support or contact forms. Information may come from you, an authorized family member, a service provider acting for us, a third-party source you direct us to use, or a public emergency/amateur-radio directory selected by a user.

Sensitive information

Depending on what users choose to provide, KFT may process account credentials, precise location, private communications, health or religious information, government or emergency identifiers, and derived face-reference information used to organize photos. We use sensitive information only to provide, secure, and support requested KFT features, comply with law, or protect users. It is not used to infer characteristics for advertising.

Purposes and legal bases

We process information to perform our agreement and provide requested features; authenticate and secure accounts; store and deliver authorized family content; provide support, exports, and account controls; maintain reliability; prevent fraud and misuse; comply with legal obligations; and establish or defend legal claims. Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies, the legal bases may include performance of a contract, legitimate interests in operating and securing the Service, compliance with law, protection of vital interests in a genuine emergency, and consent for optional access or processing where required. You may withdraw consent prospectively, without affecting prior lawful processing.

Sharing and recipients

Content is available to family members or selected people according to the audience and permissions chosen in KFT. Authorized recipients may save or further share content. Vendors may process data for hosting, authentication, storage, delivery, diagnostics, support, payments, or user-requested integrations. These may include KFT-operated Jetson/Supabase infrastructure, Supabase components, Apple, and Google when their features are chosen. We may disclose data for legal process, safety, fraud prevention, or a business transaction subject to applicable law.

KFT does not sell personal information, does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and does not use private family content for targeted advertising.

Automated and AI-assisted features

Optional features may assist with recipe extraction, photo organization, search, or similar tasks. Required content may be processed by KFT-operated systems or a provider identified in the feature. KFT does not make solely automated decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects about users.

Retention

• Account, profile, family, and user content: while the account/family service is active, until valid deletion, then for limited backup and recovery cycles.
• Authentication, security, and diagnostic logs: for the period reasonably needed to secure, investigate, and maintain the Service.
• Support communications: while handling the request and for a reasonable follow-up and dispute period.
• Consent, transaction, and legal records: as needed to document agreements, purchases, tax/accounting matters, enforce rights, and satisfy law.

Exact periods can differ because users control shared records, backups expire on operational schedules, and law or active disputes may require longer retention. KFT applies data minimization and deletes or de-identifies information when it is no longer reasonably necessary.

California disclosures

California residents may have rights to know/access, delete, correct, opt out of sale or sharing, limit certain uses of sensitive personal information, and receive equal service without discrimination. KFT’s categories collected, sources, purposes, recipients, sensitive-information uses, and retention criteria are described here and in the Notice at Collection. KFT does not sell or share personal information as those terms are used for cross-context behavioral advertising. An authorized agent may submit a request subject to identity, authority, and account verification.

International users and transfers

KFT is operated from the United States. Data may be processed in the United States and in locations where a chosen provider operates. Where required, KFT will use an applicable transfer mechanism and supplementary safeguards, such as contractual protections. International users may have rights to information, access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, consent withdrawal, and review of automated decisions. You may lodge a complaint with the data-protection authority where you live, work, or believe an infringement occurred. EU information is available from the European Commission, and UK information from the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Children

Children under 13 may use KFT only with verifiable involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian and as permitted by local law. Higher minimum ages may apply outside the United States. A guardian may request review or deletion of a child’s information. KFT is not intended for a child to create an independent account without required consent.

Security, cookies, and tracking

KFT uses access controls, encrypted transport, private storage policies, and other safeguards. No service can promise absolute security, and KFT does not claim end-to-end encryption unless a feature expressly says so. The web app uses necessary session and local-storage technologies for authentication, security, preferences, and selected people. KFT does not use advertising cookies and does not track users across unrelated services for advertising.

Your rights and requests

Use in-app controls and Privacy Choices to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, export/portability, consent withdrawal, or an appeal where applicable. We may verify identity and authority. Rights are not absolute, and lawful exceptions may apply. Do not submit passwords or private family content through a contact form.
